WHY SPIN?

Ask our clients Jill & Ron Huschke!  Together they have lost 80 pounds!

Jill lost 50 pounds and Ron has lost 30 pounds!

What is your Class style?  My classes are choreographed specially to the beat of the music.  I like to mix it up and keep it interesting with sprints, climbing, jumps, push-ups on the bike, weights, and isolations!  The class will fly by and you’ll push past your comfort zone while enjoying yourself listening to a motivating playlist.

What genre of music do you like?  I tend to mix a variety of music including pop, rock, indie rock, hip hop, techno & some fun 80’s & 90’s jams too!

What do you do for FUN? I enjoy spending time with my baby girl, husband and our 2 dogs.  We like going to the beach and hiking.  I also LOVE to cook and do hair, I am a hair stylist and the owner of Bamboo Beauty Lounge in Lahaina.

BRIAN ACKER aka "SPIN GOD"

SARAH MAAR

What is your Class style?  Utilizing both climbing skills and sprinting intervals I try to replicate road and mountain rides as well as race senarios.  These are workouts that both challenge both mental and physical abilities, bending your will until you feel you can’t push the cranks around one more time.  Then the whistle blows, we catch our breath, high five, and plan our next ride!

What genre of music do you like?  I try to find music that fits the ride/race tempo; usually between 120 - 130 bpm.....that doesn’t suck.

What do you do for FUN?  Spending time with my wife and 3 boys, and our dog Marley.  We like
the beach, teaching the boys to swim, surf, and play sports.  And of course Cycling!

What is your Class style?  Jillian Michaels meets Calvin Harris.  It's all about everyone's energy feeding off each other so we all leave a little bit stronger.

What genre of music do you like?  The old classics, the new favorites, and a few randoms.  Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Missy Elliott are my go-to's to everyone pumped up.

What do you do for FUN? Step outside in MAUI!  Anything involving the outdoors or a competitive athletic event will guarantee a good time for me.

What is your Class style?  Expect a good workout, good beats and an instructor that's super passionate and encouraging.  I try to motivate each and every rider to push themselves to get the results they came in for.

What genre of music do you like?  I find the right combination of catchy beats and uplifting lyrics to help you GO GO GO and PUSH outside of your comfort zone.

What do you do for FUN? Play with my dog, Buddy. Play tennis, read, stand up paddle and hike
with my hubby, hang with family and friends, and work out!

What is your Class style?  I am a mixture of all of our Enjoy the Ride MAUI coaches...riders beware!
I will yell at the riders like Brian and bring a whistle, do intervals and jumps like Julia,  Dance and Scream Up 2,3,4 Down 2,3,4 like my boy Skyler (wiggling my hips to the beat too), focus on structure and help everyone like Emily, motivate with passion like Kim, and be perfect angels like Sarah & Rachel!  Yep, that’s how I’ll do it :-)

What genre of music do you like? I make most of the playlists for Enjoy the Ride and your request are always welcome. I try to mix a variety of music (current Dance, Funk, Pop, Hip Hop Beats and a little Techno) to match the intervals so we can spin to the beat! If it makes you wanna jump and dance, I love it!

What do you do for FUN? I love the ocean, swimming, snorkeling, whale watching, African safaris, scuba diving & underwater photography. World travel (I’ve been on all 7 Continents), and my newest hobby is surf photography.

BENEFITS OF SPIN! Here are 5 of the Top Benefits of Spinning ClassBy Spinning
When in need of a challenging workout, innovative equipment, or a flat-out fun experience, look to Spinning and start enjoying these 5 benefits of indoor cycling:

1. Burn Calories as You Enjoy Your Ride
The old “two birds, one stone” idiom takes on a whole new meaning with Spinning, as your “me time” transcends normal downtime habits by becoming as productive as it is enjoyable. Consider this: a one-hour long ride at a moderate intensity burns approximately 420 to 622 calories at a moderate pace, according to Harvard Health. When you put it side-by-side with Hatha Yoga’s (240 to 356 calories burned per hour), it puts that number into perspective.

If you need further proof of the benefits of indoor cycling, just look to the unified enjoyment you can often see on the faces of a full class of people. That type of unified enjoyment – the authentic excitement, inspiring environment and unified dedication, all rolled into one is rarely associated with weight loss. Spinning is an opportunity to enjoy your time while you burn substantial calories.

2. Improve Your Cardio for a Healthy Heart
Spinning can be performed as an anaerobic exercise, pulling energy from reserves and building up muscular endurance over an extended time frame. However, there are also aerobic benefits. Spinning classes include both endurance and cardiovascular training. Heart health is one of the most obvious benefits of Spinning, as is lung capacity. As we work harder, we will learn to work on controlled breathing, as well. This can help with anxiety and help lower the heart rate when in a situation where physical exertion begins to take the breath away.

3. Build Lean Muscle Definition
Before long some of the physical benefits of Spinning will start to show up in the mirror. One such benefit – added lean muscular definition – is a true sign of commitment to your new craft. Then when you add the loss of unwanted body fat into the equation, the combined results will have you jumping for joy – assuming you’re not suffering from post-workout soreness!
The primary muscular definition you can get from Spinning will be in your legs and core muscles, since those are the main muscles you use to ride. If you want to build muscular definition in your upper-body as well, consider attending a Spinning class with cross training elements mixed into the program like our Spin & Sculpt Class and our Arms, Abs & Awesomeness Class

4. Strengthen Your Core & Rep a Six-pack
Spinning Instructors should always cue reminders about technique and posture. Correct posture is essential to work the correct muscle groups. In addition to the major leg muscles worked during a Spinning class, the abdominal muscles get a workout, too.
As you ride, unlike racing a bike on the road, you get an upper body rhythm going that helps you keep your leg rhythm. The movement from a slightly bent position and side to side works both the central abdominal muscles and those along the side of your abdomens. This is a technique known as “rhythm release.”
You may not see the results of your abdominal work immediately, but this is a benefit of indoor cycling that builds over time, as you start to feel your entire body begin to tone up, including the muscles that that define (physically and literally) a shredded six-pack.

5. Enhance Your Mental Strength
Spinning does two things particularly well regarding mental health:
#1: The warmup and cool down are great ways to relax. Before and after putting your body through a strenuous Spinning class you can close your eyes, work just a little, and allow the physical exertion to become a catharsis for releasing pent-up emotions.
#2: Spinning can help you develop a “can-do” attitude. Spinning also builds mental strength. When you ride, there are good days and bad. The important thing is that you carry through with your regular Spinning routine. Push through difficult times, work up the hill climbs and ride through the endurance training. Mental self-discipline is something often gained from Spinning and can often be applied to other areas of life involving self-control or confidence.

Don’t wait! Start your indoor cycling journey today to take advantage of the long list of physical, mental and lifestyle benefits of Spinning!
